Laurel & Ed's Southern California Journal

Flowers

Welcome to our Travelogue

These pages highlight our Spring Break 2002 trip to the Los Angeles / San Diego area. Neither Laurel nor myself had ever been to California and we just couldn't pass on it any longer considering how many friends and relatives we knew there.

The site presents a formatted-for-your-TV-screen version of a journal I kept on my pilot as the trip progressed. I also include scans of a good portion of the pictures we took, some linked to from within the text and others inlined in each page.

The days are grouped together in the four pages linked to from the menu on your left (please see the browser note at the bottom of this page). The Related Links page provides a reasonable listing of sites with information about some of the places we visited.

Who we Are

At the time of this writing, Laurel and Ed are Florida residents who enjoy travelling but don't seem to be able to get around to it as often as they'd like. Laurel is currently finishing up her PhD in Sociology, while Ed is a software engineer who has been taking a break from the tech sector to teach.

I created this site as an example for an HTML / CSS class I taught in the Spring of 2002 at the University of Florida (well, actually that was not the only reason as I seem to have developed a bad habit of web-ifying my travels). If you have any questions or comments, feel free to send me a message.

Note: These pages are best to be viewed with an XHTML-compliant browser. If you are visiting this site with an aborration such as Netscape 4.x (or lower) or IE 5.x (or lower), you should really consider entering the current millenium and upgrading to a newer version or a better browser (you can check out just how bad they are yourself). If you're looking for a browser with great support of the latest W3C standards, try out Mozilla which is the basis for Netscape 6.x. And no, IE 6.x does not handle fixed positioning so the floating nav-menu and preview pane won't function as intended.
